The Fate of Intellectuals in the Spotlight as Saloth Ban’s Testimony Continues
On Wednesday, April 25, 2012, the Trial Chamber of the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC) continued trial proceedings in Case 002 against accused Nuon Chea, Ieng Sary, and Khieu Samphan.* As scheduled, the Prosecution spent the morning continuing its examination of witness Saloth Ban, who was both Pol Pot’s nephew and the Secretary General for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Democratic Kampuchea. The Civil Parties were then allowed to put questions to him in the afternoon.
